| The Authentic Martial Arts Championship Series is an exciting opportunity for our youth and adult karate students to broaden their martial arts training experience through organized competitions. The competitions are based on fairness, safety, and fun. Enthusiastic participation assures that every competitor will enjoy an absolutely positive and memorable experience. The Authentic Martial Arts Championship Series is modeled after The All Okinawa Karate Championship Series, in Okinawa, Japan. In 1994 Sensei Ric Martin became the first American to ever win this World Championship.
Tournaments are held three times per year; February, June, and October. Competitions include Karate and Kobudo (weapons) events. Competitive “windows” are announced based on belt levels to make the tournament experience convenient, and not require families and friends to spend more time than necessary waiting for their particular event(s) of interest.
The benefit to the competitors is in the advance preparation, the opportunity to demonstrate what has been learned, and learning how to perform under pressure. The tournaments are scheduled one year in advance to allow students to take as much time as they want to prepare. Our experience has shown that by offering competitive opportunities to our students, they become more intrinsically motivated to elevate their level of proficiency because everyone wants to give their best performance. It’s amazing how martial arts students learn to “rise to the occasion!” The Authentic Martial Arts Championship Series is yet another strategy that we utilize for the ultimate benefit of each and every one of our students so they can realize the value in achievements that result from good, honest effort. Believe! Achieve! Succeed!
Every participant is awarded a prestigious and beautifully crafted “Olympic style” medal. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals are gold, silver, and bronze. No one goes home empty-handed! Also, Grand Championship points are awarded for participation, and additional points are earned for placing in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. Grand Championship points are recorded for each student over a three tournament series. After every tournament the Grand Championship points are tabulated, from the most recent three tournaments, to determine the Grand Championship winners. The students with the most points in each belt division will win the Grand Championship trophy. Beautiful 1st and 2nd place Grand Championship trophies are awarded to the winners.
